Dr. Phillips grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. She graduated from the University of Delaware and then went on to Kansas State University for veterinary school. Dr. Phillips grew up always wanting to be a veterinarian. She graduated from Kansas State in 2001. She went on to do an internship in medicine and surgery at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C. After a year in general practice, she spent the next 7 years at Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Bowie, MD. There she worked closely with specialists and helped manage ICU, Internal Medicine, and ICU patients. She also ran the Intern Program. Dr. Phillips yearned for the client and patient relationships so she left referral medicine to go back to general practice.
She has spent the past 8 years at a busy practice in Olney. There she was able to continue with her love of Oncology by providing consultations and chemotherapy to cancer patients. Dr. Phillips has special interests in Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Behavior Medicine. Implementing Fear Free techniques is very important to her, and she is currently working on becoming Fear Free Certified. She also enjoys working with rescue groups as she has been doing this for many years.
Dr. Phillips is married and has an 8-year-old daughter. Dr. Phillips and her family live in Silver Spring along with their Boxer mix, Bingo; their Golden Retriever, Doc; and two cats, Harry and Nikki. She enjoys gardening, doing puzzles, helping her daughter with arts and crafts, and vacationing in the Outer Banks and Mexico
