Kathleen C Phillips, DVM

Dr. Phillips grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. She grew up always wanting to be a veterinarian.  Dr. Phillips graduated from the University of Delaware and then went on to Kansas State University for veterinary school, graduating in 2001. She went on to do an internship in medicine and surgery at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC. After a year in general practice, she spent the next 7 years at Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Bowie, MD. There she worked closely with the specialists and helped manage ICU, Internal Medicine, and Chemo patients. She also ran the Intern Program. Dr. Phillips yearned for the client and patient relationships, so she left referral medicine to go back to general practice.

She spent 8 years at a busy practice in Olney before joining Kindness in 2021. There, she was able to continue with her love of Oncology by providing consultations and chemotherapy to cancer patients. Dr. Phillips has special interests in Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Behavioral Medicine. Implementing Fear Free techniques is also very important to her, and she is Fear Free Certified. She also enjoys working with rescue group,s as she has been doing this for many years.

Dr. Phillips is married and has a daughter in middle school. Dr. Phillips and her family live in Silver Spring along with their Boxer mix Bingo, their Golden Retriever Doc, two Boston Terriers named Bruno and Ralph, and two cats named Harry and Nikki. She enjoys gardening, doing puzzles, being a soccer mom, and vacationing in the Outer Banks and Mexico.
