Winnie Neunzig, DVM
Dr. Winnie Neunzig grew up in the Catskills of New York State, but moved west to receive her undergraduate degree and then Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1983. Dr. Neunzig practiced just outside Boulder, Colorado for 2 years before following her husband to the Washington, D.C., area and established herself at what she considers the finest clinic in the metropolitan area, Kindness Animal Hospital. She has worked at Kindness for more than 25 years as a full-time associate, and now practices on a part-time basis.
Dr. Neunzig is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association, the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association, the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. She is accredited with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. Dr. Neunzig is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and keeps current by attending several intensive continuing education seminars a year, in both traditional and complementary medicine. She also has special interests in soft tissue surgery, spay and neuter and the human-animal bond.
Dr. Neunzig is a field service veterinarian for World Vets, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing veterinary care around the globe, often in collaboration with local animal advocacy groups. Much of their small animal work involves providing spay and neuter clinics that include training local veterinarians in these skills. Dr. Neunzig has led numerous World Vet campaigns in Central and South America, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia.
Dr. Neunzig and her family have two dogs, cats and horses nearby. In her spare time, Dr. Neunzig enjoys gardening, horseback riding and traveling. She also participates in a wide variety of school, local and global events about pet care. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian continues to be the privilege of becoming a part of the wonderful relationships that pets bring to people’s lives.
