Pet Dental Care

Dental care is an essential part of your pet’s health care routine and can impact his or her overall health. Regular professional dental exams and cleanings, as well as at-home care, will keep your pet’s teeth strong and healthy for years to come. Without proper dental care, your pet may suffer from gingivitis, periodontal disease, and painful infections that can even affect other organs.

Professional Dental Care at Kindness Animal Hospital

Kindness Animal Hospital is dedicated to providing the following comprehensive, preventative dental services for both dogs and cats:

  • Thorough dental examinations
  • Comprehensive dental cleanings and polishing
  • Minor oral surgery including, but not limited to, tooth extractions, fistula repairs, and removal of oral tumors
  • Comprehensive pain management before, during and after any oral procedure that may produce discomfort
  • Monitored general anesthesia through the dental procedure by our knowledgeable, well-trained technicians with the aid of digital monitoring equipment
  • Home dental care instructions and product recommendations

Dental Scaling With Anesthesia

Appropriate professional teeth cleaning requires the use of anesthesia. The use of anesthesia allows us to observe, evaluate, and clean all surfaces of the teeth, probe the gum line for pockets, and obtain x-rays to screen for problems below the gum line. Anesthesia also allows us to protect your pet’s airway and lungs from the bacteria liberated during cleaning. As an AAHA accredited practice, we do not recommend, nor do we perform, “non-anesthetic” dental cleanings. At-Home Dental Care for Your Pet

Brushing your cat’s or dog’s teeth on a daily basis significantly reduces the buildup of plaque on the teeth. Plaque is an accumulation of bacteria that can lead to periodontitis if ignored. Periodontitis causes pain and chronic oral infections which can lead to bone loss and eventually tooth loss.

Kindness Animal Hospital can provide you with advice and various options on how to care for your dog’s or cat’s teeth at home. Call us today to speak with us about your pet’s dental care or to schedule a dental exam.
