Jeff Zolkiewicz, DVM

Dr. Zolkiewicz was born in New Jersey and spent his formative years there. He moved to Maryland in the 1980s and attended high school locally. He did his under graduate work at Virginia Tech and graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 as the “Most Outstanding Senior Student” in his class. During his veterinary school rotations, Dr. Zolkiewicz completed a three-week externship at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Zolkiewicz is a member in good standing of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. He is also accredited with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

Over the course of more than 10 years, Dr. Zolkiewicz has developed an interest in ultrasound and anesthesia/pain management in pets. He has completed several intensive ultrasound courses and performs an average 3-5 ultrasound studies each week.

When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Z enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for his beloved Virginia Tech Hokies. His pastimes include running, biking, swimming and genealogy research. He has 2 cats, 1 dog and 4 rats.

Marc Katz, DVM

Marc S. Katz, DVM graduated from The Ohio Statekatz.jpg University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. He also received a Master’s degree in Veterinary Cardiology. Dr. Katz completed an internship program in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1978.

Dr. Katz is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the Greater Baltimore Veterinary Association and the American Animal Hospital Association. He keeps current by attending 3-6 cutting edge continuing education seminars per year. His interests in veterinary medicine include diagnostic medicine and cardiology.

Having loved and cared for a number of pets throughout childhood, most notably two Saint Bernards, Dr Katz’s choice to become a veterinarian was a perfect fit. His extensive education and clinical experience at Kindness Animal Hospital over the past thirty-three years has helped him to keep his patients happy and healthy.

Dr. Katz’s hobbies include biking, hiking and speed walks with his Golden Retriever, Lizzie. Dr. Katz, an avid reader is usually working on two books at any given time. He and his wife, Debbie are the parents of fours sons and grandparents to two grandsons.

Winnie Neunzig, DVM

Dr. Winnie Neunzig grew up in the Catskills of New York State, but moved west to receive her undergraduate degree and then Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in1983. Dr. Neunzig practiced just outside Boulder, Colorado for 2 years before following her husband to the Washington, D.C. area and established herself at what she considers the finest clinic in the metropolitan area, Kindness Animal Hospital. She has worked at Kindness for more than 25 years, first as a full-time associate and with the gradual addition of three children over the years, and now part time.

Dr. Neunzig is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association, the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. She is accredited with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. Dr. Neunzig is a certified veterinary acupuncturist andkeeps current by attending several intensive continuing education seminars a year, in both traditional and complementary medicine. She also has special interests in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and the human-animal bond.

Dr. Neunzig is also a field service veterinarian for World Vets, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing veterinary care around the globe, often in collaboration with local animal advocacy groups. Much of their small animal work involves providing spay and neuter clinics that include training local veterinarians in these skills. Dr. Neunzig has lead World Vet trips to Nicaragua, Honduras and Ecuador.

Dr. Neunzig and her family resides in Takoma Park, Maryland with their two dogs, cats and horses nearby. For enjoyment Dr. Neunzig horseback rides, cooks and leads a very active Girl Scout troop. She also participates in a wide variety of school, local and global events about pet care. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian continues to be the privilege of becoming a part of the wonderful relationships that pets bring to people's lives.


Erika Hoffeld, DVM

Erika Hoffeld, DVM, is a Montgomery County native. She did her undergraduate work at Goucher College in Baltimore, then attended the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, from which she graduated in 2004. Throughout her academic and clinical studies, Dr. Hoffeld pursued electives in exotic and wild animal medicine. She also took elective rotations in companion animal emergency medicine and ultrasonography.

Dr. Hoffeld is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association (HSVMA). She has also been accredited by the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

Dr. Hoffeld’s other interests include training at her karate dojo, drawing, sculpting, preparing tasty vegan fare, and spening time with her beloved mutts, Cora and Potato.

Martine Moore, DVM

Dr. Moore is originally from Howard County, Maryland, where she gmoore.jpgrew up with her two younger sisters, Shayla and Amber. She obtained her Bachelors degree in biology from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia in 2003. Dr. Moore then traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia, where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she completed a one year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Dr. Moore joined the Doctors and staff of Kindness in July 2008.

Dr. Moore is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. She has a special interest in soft tissue surgery and has a great appreciation for the human-animal bond.

Dr. Moore currently resides in Laurel, Maryland and has a cat named Nutmeg. She enjoys singing, dancing, baking, fitness and swimming, travelling, and speaking Spanish.
